On November 25, President Michael Spence of University College London (UCL) visited Tsinghua University. President Li Luming welcomed the delegation in Gong Zi Ting, where both parties signed a memorandum of cooperation and discussed deepening collaboration between the two institutions. Vice President Wang Hongwei attended the meeting.

Li Luming introduced Tsinghua's latest advancements in global strategy, academic development, and scientific research. He emphasized Tsinghua's commitment to building a distinctive medical discipline, noting the University's progress in basic medical research, clinical medicine, and medical education within the healthcare sector. Li highlighted the solid foundation of cooperation between the two universities and the fruitful outcomes in research innovation, academic development, and student-faculty exchange. He proposed further collaboration in areas such as artificial intelligence in education, medical discipline development, medical system construction, and public health to address global challenges and enhance China-UK cooperation.

Michael Spence shared insights into UCL's development in digital technology-driven healthcare and reviewed the close cooperation between the two universities in research and online education. He looked forward to deeper collaboration in exploring future medical service models and conducting joint clinical innovation research. Spence emphasized the potential for leveraging the strengths and resources of both institutions to advance the development and application of smart medical technologies, contributing to global challenges in medical education and sustainable development.

Following the talks, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding, agreeing to further deepen collaboration in education, research, and innovation. Representatives from the School of Civil Engineering, Tsinghua Medicine, and International Office attended the meeting.
